Any.DO – Become a Taskmaster

Okay, here’s the deal. I have pretty much kept my subject matter here of the “home financing” nature. I have written about local events in the Portland Metro area too, but it’s mostly been a mortgage blog.

Today, I’m going to change that.

I want to share my new favorite app with you. I would like to make it clear that I am not affiliated with the company in any way, and have not and will not receive any compensation of any kind for this post. Capisce? Cool.

Task Managing in a Social World

I don’t remember where I saw this, but last week I heard about a new task managing app called Any.DO. I checked it out, and quickly dropped all of my other task apps.

In less than a week, this app has become my favorite app and helped me become more efficient.

My job is hectic, to say the least. There is a mountain of paperwork, deadlines to meet, and tons of phone calls/emails/Facebook & Twitter messages involved in getting a home loan to a successful close. Spread that across multiple clients, all on different timelines, and it’s easy to get lost. Especially when you have to worry about keeping your pipeline full.

That’s why I decided to check out Any.DO; I am constantly on the lookout for ways to be more efficient and productive.

Any.DO: Getting Sh*t Done

On the home screen, you can see your task list. You can add, edit, and even drag & drop tasks within the same day, or from one day to another.

Here's the home screen

When you tap a task, you are presented with a list of options.

Each task has options

You can make certain tasks “high priority” with a red bar as a visual aid.

The “folder” option allows you to organize your task using a folder system. It automatically includes folders for Personal and Work, and you can add your own custom folders.

Setting a reminder for your tasks keeps you on track. Set the date & time of the alarm, as well as whether it repeats or is a one-time occurrence.

Any.DO’s flagship feature is the sharing option. You can share your tasks with contacts. This also means you can ask friends to help you get stuff done. Very cool.

And the UI is totally intuitive. You can even cross items off your list by swiping your finger across the task.

According to Any.DO’s website, which doesn’t have much on it right now, this app is currently only available for the Android OS (here’s the link to the Android market). But you can sign up to be notified when it is available for the iPhone. Also, it looks like a web version and Chrome app are on the way, which I’m sure will allow you to sync tasks across devices.

Okay, I’m a nerd. But now I’m a better organized one.

Any apps you have been impressed with lately? Please share in the comments below.

I always lose my paper LOL. Thanks for reading and commenting!

I installed any.do 10 min ago and I can already tell I like it.  Will take the place of a lot of paper.  First item on the list is clean out the purse.  On to figure out how to creat a groceries folder.

Cool, I’m glad you found this helpful. I’ve been using for a week and absolutely love it. I found some other features today after writing this that might have to find their way into another post…
